Timber baffles and decorative timber slatted baffles are often confused, but they perform very differently acoustically.

Solid timber baffles are primarily decorative and have little sound-absorbing capability because they reflect sound rather than absorb it. Decorative timber slatted acoustic baffles, however, combine timber slats with a high-performance acoustic core or backing that absorbs sound energy while maintaining the natural timber appearance. This significantly reduces reverberation and improves speech clarity, making slatted acoustic baffles the preferred choice for offices, restaurants, schools, and other spaces where both aesthetics and acoustic performance are important.

Yes. Acoustic ceilings absorb sound reflections that cause echo and reverberation, making spaces quieter and improving speech clarity. They are one of the most effective ways to control noise in large or open-plan areas.

Not necessarily. Acoustic ceilings are designed to absorb sound within a room. If sound isolation between rooms is required, additional construction such as acoustic ceilings with insulation, sealed bulkheads, or acoustic walls may be needed.

It depends on the space. Ceiling panels suit suspended grid ceilings, while baffles and clouds are ideal for exposed soffits and high ceilings. The right solution depends on the ceiling height, aesthetics, and acoustic performance required.

Yes. Most acoustic ceiling systems can be retrofitted with minimal disruption, making them an excellent solution for improving acoustics in existing offices, restaurants, schools, and commercial spaces.

Not every square metre requires treatment. The amount depends on the room size, ceiling height, finishes, and the desired acoustic performance. A professional assessment ensures the correct coverage without unnecessary expense.
